Last year, COVID-19 curtailed the usual parades, gatherings, events and fireworks. Instead of barbecuing with family and friends, we ate barbecued hot dogs on our deck after masking up to attend a small service at the Wetaskiwin Royal Canadian Legion Br. No. 86, then popping into the Wetaskiwin District Heritage Museum Centre for what has become my annual family photo. Crazy though it is, it’s the only way I get all of us in front of a camera at once.
