Red-zoned Christchurch home gifted to garden trust to become community hub

A red-zoned property in Christchurch will become a new community hub after Land Information New Zealand decided to gift it to a local trust.
Land Information Minister Damien O’Connor said on Thursday the house, on Vogel St in Richmond, would be gifted to the Richmond Community Gardens Trust, which will run it on behalf of the wider community.
Although the house is on red-zone land, Land Information New Zealand (Linz) said it only had minimal damage in the earthquake. The trust will be responsible for bringing it up to standard for public use.
