SEVIERVILLE — Weeks before an intoxicated customer allegedly killed another patron outside the Soaky Mountain Waterpark, Sevierville police told the state Alcoholic Beverage Commission Soaky Mountain Waterpark was overserving customers.
SPD cited eight incidents between June 1 and July 15 where they’d been called to deal with intoxicated guests at Soaky Mountain Waterpark or Wilderness at the Smokies Resort, which owns the waterpark.
TABC also confirmed it has started its own investigation into the incident, where the accused killer and at least two other people were allegedly intoxicated.
“There’s an open investigation,” spokesman Aaron Rummage said Tuesday.
The ABC shared the earlier complaint and citation Monday evening, after The Mountain Press requested any complaints or citations against the waterpark or against its owner, Wilderness at the Smokies Resort, since Soaky Mountain opened in May.
