Record TWSE/OTC turnover Friday caps good week on Taiwan's markets

Taipei, April 10 (CNA) The combined turnover of Taiwan's main stock exchange and its over-the-counter market hit a new high Friday as investors rushed to pocket earlier gains, according to market statistics.
The combined turnover of the Taiwan Stock Exchange and the OTC markets totaled NT$563.42 billion (US$19.84 billion), market data showed.
On Friday, the Taiex, the benchmark weighted index of the TWSE, closed down 72.34 points, or 0.43 percent, at 16,854.10, after coming off an all-time intraday high of 17,016.13.
Turnover was NT$439.53 billion, which included after hours transactions, the fourth largest trading volume in the market's history.
