New COVID-19 cases are surging across Ontario, and that trend continues in the Quinte area.
Hastings Prince Edward Public Health reported a total of 32 new COVID-19 cases today. That is the highest daily total that has been recorded since the start of the pandemic over a year ago.
Fifteen of the new cases are located in Belleville.
The region now has a record-high 71 active COVID-19 cases. The seven-day case rate per 100,000 people has jumped to 29.7.
Staff have also recorded another 10 more variants of concern, for a total of 20 voc’s since the start of the pandemic. One person is currently in hospital and one outbreak has been identified at a workplace in Trenton.
