Recent drought showed Australia ‘we need water security’: NSW Water Minister17/03/2021|6min
Regional Australia needs water security which requires “grown up conversations, not GetUp conversations” about dams, according to NSW Water Minister Melinda Pavey.
The Dungowan Dam project will see the current dam be replaced with a larger one based on the Peel River which will provide much needed water resources to the Tamworth region.
Ms Pavey said the Murray Darling Basin cap means more water cannot be allocated to farmers or towns in the region.
“But what we can do is give greater security that that water’s going to be there,” she said.
