Carlisle is set to receive £9.1 million government funding through the Future High Streets Fund.
The news was welcomed by the city’s politicians and leaders as the city looks to emerge from the pandemic strongly.
And reader June Terry was certain that the city would, indeed, enter another golden era as a result of investment.
She said: [There’s] lots of development happening. Some lovely property and looking forward to the station and Sands developments.
“Looking forward to seeing where the town centre millions will go. Hope homeowners with weather-worn sandstone will get slice of cherry too.”
Kathy Scott welcomed the investment, with the funding set to be used to also revitalise the city centre.
