Raystown Lake, the popular Huntingdon County destination, is home to the top earning campground among 770 campgrounds at U.S. Army Corps of Engineers projects across the U.S.
Seven Points Campground on the north side of the 8,300-acre lake earned $728,630 in fiscal 2020, according to a report by Recreation.gov. That was an increase from $546,950 in fiscal 2019.
The 256 campsites hosted 26,918 campers in 2020 and saw an occupancy rate of 72 percent.
Today’s Raystown Dam and Lake was authorized by the Flood Control Act of 1962 and completed in 1974, when then-Vice President Gerald Ford – the only president ever to work as a park ranger – dedicated the dam.
