Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 23) — Metro Manila and other areas in Luzon will still be drenched by rains on Friday as slow-moving Typhoon Fabian continues to enhance the southwest monsoon or habagat.
Enhanced monsoon will bring scattered to widespread rains in the next 24 hours in Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Metro Manila, most of Calabarzon and Central Luzon, and portions of Mimaropa, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration said in its latest bulletin.
Strong winds are expected in Batanes and Babuyan Islands as they remain under the lowest storm alert due to Fabian, PAGASA said.
The typhoon, last seen 510 kilometers northeast of Itbayat, Batanes, is seen to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Friday night or Saturday morning. It maintained maximum sustained winds of 150 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 185 kph.
