About a year ago, the Rainbow City Planning Commission considered a rezoning request property on Lumley Road that would have allowed construction of an age-restricted rental property.
The proposal sparked widespread opposition and ultimately was rejected — as was a similar proposal by a different development company for a similar project in Southside, on Alabama Highway 77 just south of Southside Baptist Church.
Now, the same company that proposed the development last year in Rainbow City is representing the property owners, Charles and Amanda Devine, as they again request rezoning for what is essentially the same development with a few alterations, according to Rainbow City Mayor Joe Taylor.
