A local police chief can add a new title to his name.
Radcliff's Chief, Jeff Cross, was named Kentucky's "chef of the year" Thursday at the annual conference for the Kentucky Association of Chiefs of Police. Sign up for our Newsletters
Cross dedicated his nearly 30-year career to the Radcliff Police department. He began his career as a patrolman in 1993 and rose up through the ranks, working his way to chief in 2008.
Cross said he was surprised by winning the award.
"I was just standing there expecting somebody else to be called, and they started reading the resume, and Kenny, the chief from Vine Grove, was with me. So, I looked over at him, and he said, that's you, dude. So, it was really surprising, and it touched me. It really did," Cross said.
