Racers weigh risks of running in grizzly country

In the cold pre-dawn gray of Sept. 17, more than 500 runners began a 50-kilometer trek around Big Sky Resort's Lone Mountain, soon to be followed by more than 600 others embarking on a 20-kilometer journey. Also in the Gallatin Mountains that day, likely somewhere just south of Big Sky, was a grizzly bear that severely mauled a man on Sept. 8.
