In a press release Thursday, Congressman Darin LaHood announced Baldwin Field is getting an $8-million dollar Federal Aviation Administration Airport Improvement Program grant.
Officials say the money will be used to help reconstruct the airport’s runway and improve its safety.
"The Quincy Airport is a vital part of the transportation system and supply chain of west-central Illinois," said Rep. LaHood.
"Improving the runway will allow the airport to focus on other aspects of their facility and expand their services. In Congress, I will continue to work to support local infrastructure projects that add jobs and stimulate our economy in Illinois."
