The Queensway Carleton Hospital announced on Wednesday it is postponing all non-urgent elective surgeries requiring admission for the next four weeks.
“These surgeries,” the hospital wrote in a tweet, “will be replaced with day surgeries which do not require admission.”

The hospital noted it is currently at 113 per cent capacity, with 24 COVID-19 patients admitted and 138 patients on isolation precautions, an all-time high for the facility.
The hospital also indicated it would review its decision to postpone surgeries twice a week and make adjustments as occupancy and staffing levels permit.
