A low-pressure system heading north from the American east coast will cause heavy snowfall in much of Quebec Tuesday and eventually transform into a major storm.
In a special weather statement issued Monday for the Montreal area, Environment Canada noted: “Snowfalls are expected to begin during the day Tuesday and continue into the evening. The snow combined with moderate winds will generate local blowing snow. Snowfall amounts could reach 10 to 20 centimetres.”

While similar accumulations are expected for the Lanaudière and Mauricie regions, the Quebec City, Beauce and Eastern Townships regions could receive up to 30 cm of snow.
