Whanganui (81.8 km ENE of epicenter) [Map] / Very weak shaking (MMI II) / rattling, vibrating / 5-10 s :
Shelves were all rattling, floor was shaking and it lasted 5-10 seconds. Felt like the start of something bigger.
Nelson / Weak shaking (MMI III) / single lateral shake / very short :
Thought it was a severe sudden gust of wind, but the trees were moving just a bit, so why did the house shake?? Decided it was a sudden quite shake.
