QACHS Visual Arts Teen of the Week — Annika Liimatainen

CENTREVILLE — Queen Anne’s County High School senior Annika Liimatainen is an outstanding visual arts student in Stephanie Zeiler’s new honors level 2-D Portfolio Development art class. This course is the fall semester class that accompanies the new spring Advanced Placement 2-D Art and Design course. This is just the second year Queen Anne’s County Public Schools is offering the new Advanced Placement Visual Arts classes, and Annika is soaring.
Annika is also a member of Zeiler’s National Art Honor Society, and she has developed her artistic voice through the process of “Visual Journaling,” which Supervisor of Fine Arts Michael Bell describes as “a way to record life’s experiences, feelings, emotional reactions, or one’s own inner voice visually and verbally in a sketchbook, which often leads to larger works.”
