The boats in which representative idols of the main deities will go around Narendra tank are parked in Puri on Tuesday
BHUBANESWAR: In the wake of Covid surge, the Puri district administration has decided to conduct Saturday’s annual Chandan Yatra, a key festival of Jagannath Temple, without the congregation of devotees. The administration will impose prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC to prevent gathering of people on Grand Road between Jagannath Temple and Narendra tank.
The rituals for Chandan Yatra and construction of chariots for this year’s Rath Yatra will begin on the auspicious day of Akshaya Trutiya on Saturday with minimum number of servitors, who would conduct the rituals. “There will be no participation of devotees,” Puri district collector Samarth Verma said.
