A 19-year-old person was allegedly beaten to death on Saturday (May 4) in Ferozepur district of Punjab, over 400 km north of New Delhi, after an alleged sacrilege incident. 

According to police, Bakshish Singh, a resident of Talli Gulam village, allegedly tore some pages of a sacred religious text after entering a place of worship Bandala village of Punjab's Ferozepur. 

The deceased person's father Lakhwinder Singh claimed that his son had been suffering from a mental illness and was receiving the treatment for the same, Press Trust of India reported.
