Pullman City Council will consider a request to annex a large parcel of land South of town during its meeting Tuesday night.
Terrie Vuletich, Bryan Bishop and Gary and Gale Crithfield want the city to annex their land on the Southside of Grand Avenue just across from the new Sundance South subdivision. The land is pre-zoned to be general commercial.
Most of the 120-acre annexation proposal is in ag production but the request does include one home. The city’s planning department wants the home to be annexed to prevent the creation of a county island in the city. The resident Munir Daud has sent the city a letter opposing the forced annexation of his home. Daud’s letter says that he was never informed of the possible annexation and objects to his home being brought into the city. City of Pullman Planning Director R.J. Lott has clarified to Pullman Radio News that county islands inside city limits are legal in Washington. Lott says his request to annex the house follows the city’s comprehensive plan which discourages county islands.
