Thanks to voters in Pueblo West, the first steps in implementing the goals and priorities of Ballot Initiative 6A-Fire Sales Tax is underway.
The Pueblo West Metropolitan District Fire Department is moving forward with needed improvements in fire and medical services to our community, including the addition of a staffed fire station in the southwest area of Pueblo West.
The Pueblo West Metropolitan District Fire Department has spent the last few months identifying how to proceed with the needed improvements as the new fire sales tax has begun to be collected in 2021.
In February, the Pueblo West Fire Department held its first of several meetings internally to develop a project management plan for this important project. The Pueblo West Metropolitan District staff will be working together to identify the specific needs for the new station, ensuring that the fire station serves the needs of the community and our fire team, and that it also is within our financial limits and is the best use of taxpayer funds.
