Pueblo murderer James Papol sentenced to 60 years in homicide of Mary Lynn Vialpando

A Pueblo man who spent more than a decade living in the Colorado Mental Health Institute at Pueblo was sentenced to 60 years in the Department of Corrections Wednesday for the brutal murder of a Colorado Springs woman in 1988.
James Papol, 48, was facing a sentence between 40 and 60 years in the DOC after pleading guilty in February to second-degree murder and aggravated robbery in the homicide of 24-year-old Mary Lynn Vialpando in Old Colorado City.
Papol was 15 years old at the time of the murder. 
At the sentencing, 4th Judicial District Court Judge Robin Chittum enforced the maximum penalty, which all but guarantees Papol will spend the rest of his life in prison.
