The Pueblo County County Commissioners came out fiercely opposed to a Colorado General Assembly bill that they say would force an even earlier closure of Xcel Energy’s Comanche 3 power plant, and have far-reaching economic consequences in the county.
It’s an atypical move from the board, which doesn't usually come out in either support or opposition via resolution for bills, preferring to adapt administratively to any changes that come down from Denver.
“The bottom line is this bill would be absolutely devastating to many counties, but Pueblo County for various reasons,” County Commissioner Chair Garrison Ortiz said during Thursday's board meeting.
