HALLOWELL, Maine (AP) — The Maine Public Utilities Commission delayed part of a rate increase for Central Maine Power’s transmission and distribution portion of monthly bills to reduce the impact on ratepayers, officials said Wednesday.
Bills will grow about 11.5%, or about $9.90, per month for a typical customer effective Aug. 1, the PUC said.
The bulk of the increase — 80% — was driven by federally regulated transmission costs that are out of the PUC's control, so the panel opted to delay part of the costs until next year, said Chairman Philip L. Bartlett II.
