HOSPITALITY venues across Cumbria will have been hoping for better weather over the bank holiday weekend.
Following months of lockdown, last weekend was the first three-day weekend since pubs and bars were able to serve alcohol outside.
However, the weather was not on side, with wind and rain sweeping across the county.
At one popular venue in Whitehaven, the poor weather meant that only a few tables could be open, at a time when capacity is already severely reduced.
Amber Sullivan, landlady at the Whittington Cat, said it had been extremely difficult since reopening.
She is hoping that customers return in good numbers once the pub is allowed to serve drinks indoors later this month.
