Publix begins COVID-19 vaccinations at St. Johns County supermarkets

DeSantis said expansion by Publix serves his goal of vaccinating as many senior citizens as possible. 
“Publix is in every community. If we can get it in every community, it’s going to be easier for people to get the vaccine,” he said. "... We really believe it's important to put seniors first on this."
Close to 400,000 seniors have been vaccinated statewide, DeSantis said, calling that total "the most of any state by a country mile."
The supermarket vaccinations were welcome news in a week when the shots' availability in St. Johns County has been unpredictable. County officials said Monday that no vaccine shipments from state government were expected this week, then on Tuesday said that 500 doses had arrived and that appointments could be scheduled beginning Thursday.
