LAKELAND — Marcus Roberts, chief operating officer of Second Sight Publishing, saw that local school children needed to read books that held their interest and so — BAM! — he donated 1,000 comic books to Polk County Public Schools.
“We at Second Sight Publishing strive to provide quality, entertaining, reading to kids of all ages and welcome the opportunity to provide an alternative reading source to help strengthen the reading skills of students,” said Roberts, who lives in Lakeland.
Jason Geary, a spokesman for PCPS, said the district is reviewing them to determine appropriate age and grade level comprehension. Once they have that figured out — POW! — they will distribute them to the schools.
