A county public health department employee is seeking a spot on the Johnson County Board of Supervisors.
Democrat Susan Vileta of Swisher has spent the past seven years working at the Johnson County Public Health Department but said the last year handling the response to the COVID-19 pandemic was the real test.
"People may not realize how much of this we took to heart. You would wake up in your sleep answering questions, and you would be using your free time to look at new research," she said. "It consumed us for a very long time."
As the coronavirus continued to spread, Vileta said her role as a health educator felt high-stakes.
