Dujali, Davao del Norte, has expressed her gratitude to President Rodrigo Roa Duterte for spurring peace and economic development in her town for the past five years. "It is our honor that we are chosen among the many local government units. I did not refuse because I took that as a chance to give thanks to the President for the development he brought to our town," she told Philippine News Agency (PNA) in an interview Thursday afternoon during the Hugpong ng Pagbabago political alliance oathtaking ceremony for local executives in adjacent Carmen, Davao del Norte. Earlier on the same day, the municipality of Dujali was chosen for the launching of the Duterte Legacy Barangayanihan Caravan in the province. Romano, a staunch supporter of Duterte, cited that many of her poor constituents were able to benefit from the zero billing policy on public hospitals coursed through the Malasakit Center, one of the administration's health programs that caters to the poor. The Malasakit Center is a one-stop shop where indigent patients can efficiently access financial medical assistance from agencies such as PhilHealth, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, and the Department of Social Welfare and Development. "The Build, Build, Build" project also contributed to the growth of our town. We owe it to Tatay Digong," she said. In the same event, the Department of Labor and Employment 11 (Davao Region) turned over PHP4.3 million to Romano for the rollout of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers and child labor programs in the municipality. "There is so much to thank the government for such assistance to the displaced workers in this time of the pandemic," the mayor said. Thursday's caravan started with a motorcade participated in by various government officials, beneficiaries from different government programs who shared their experiences on the programs that made a significant impact in their lives under the Duterte administration. The Duterte Legacy campaign aims to inform the public about the government's programs, policies, accomplishments, and efforts to bring about real change to the lives of the Filipino people by showcasing real stories from the beneficiaries in their respective localities of the administration's landmark policies and programs -- a legacy and embodiment of the President's whole-of-nation approach. The Presidential Communications Operations Office, along with the Department of the Interior and Local Government, and the Philippine National Police launched the caravan which intends to bring basic services of the government to the grassroots level and offers on-ground activities for participants. The "Serbisyo" Caravan was also participated by agencies such as the Social Security System, the Department of Public Works and Highways, the Department of Labor and Employment, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Health, Department of Agrarian Reform, and the National Commission on Indigenous People. Services for jobseekers, medical outreach, consultations, license/permit applications were made available among the different participating agencies and government offices during the caravan, the mayor said.
