NEW DELHI: As the farmers protest against the three agriculture laws entered the third week, representatives of more than two dozen farmers unions observed a day-long hunger strike on Monday. The unions claimed that demonstrations took place at several places across the country. Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal as well as several leaders of his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) joined the fast to support the farmers.
Meanwhile, defence minister Rajnath Singh reiterated that agriculture was a "mother sector" and there was no question of taking any "retrograde steps" against it ever.
