Prosecutors build case against NYC building inspector accused of taking leave of absence to moonlight with construction firm

A city inspector’s crooked plan to build a better life for himself came crashing down on him like a ton of bricks, officials said. Prosecutors said Kevin Moroney, 52, of Brooklyn used an approved leave of absence to moonlight for a private construction firm, a violation of city rules.
