Suggested amendments to the state rules governing discovery would impose presumptive limits on both the number and length of depositions.
Proposed late last year by the Supreme Judicial Court Standing Advisory Committee on the Massachusetts Rules of Civil Procedure, the amendments would affect Civil Rule 30, which governs depositions on oral examination, and Civil Rule 30A, which applies to audiovisual depositions. The changes would bring the state rules more in line with federal practice.
