PARSIPPANY — Exactly two weeks after hundreds of people rallied on Smith Field in support of Palestine, hundreds more stood on the same ground Sunday to stand with Israel in its latest deadly conflict with Hamas.
"This is not a rally just for Jewish people," said Cantor Menachem Toren of the Pine Brook Jewish Center. "This is a rally for pro-peace. This is a rally for pro-coexistence. This a rally for the truth. We are going to dream big today, not close out but invite in."
As volunteers handed out U.S flags, Israeli flags and water bottles, about 200 people coped with withering temperatures in the mid-90s. Most stood on a hot artificial turf field to listen to the speakers while police patrolled the grounds and commanded a fleet of response vehicles along adjacent Route 46.
