The first private U.S. spacecraft to land on the moon broke a leg at touchdown before falling over. The lander had only a few more hours of power left before its anticipated premature shutdown Wednesday night. Intuitive Machines, the company that built the lander, said it was still generating solar power as of Wednesday afternoon. The company released new photos that showed at least one broken landing leg on the six-legged craft. It touched down near the moon’s south pole last Thursday, but came in too fast and skidded, breaking a leg or even two before slowly going down onto its side.
