Private health system in WA did not get the 'surgeries cancelled' memo29/04/2021|4min
6PR Broadcaster Liam Bartlett says when the WA government cancelled elective surgeries during the lockdown they only informed hospitals in the public health system - leaving surgeons in the private system to turn up to work.
"We had a public holiday on Monday when the health minister came out and said elective surgery lists have mostly been cancelled only for the most urgent of cases - he said your hospital will let you know," he told Sky News host Chris Kenny.
"The problem with that theory was that was only happening in the public system - so in the private system all the doctors rooms that would normally tell patients what's going on were mostly closed.
