Gordon Brown (left) met with the Earl and Countess of Strathearn to discuss the 'issue of independence'
THE Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have held a secret meeting with Gordon Brown to discuss Scottish independence.
Brown, who has recently launched a renewed campaign to save the Union, was seen attending the Palace of Holyroodhouse by Channel 4.
However, the broadcaster was asked not to show the images of the former prime minister in the grounds of the palace on privacy grounds.
William and Kate sat down for talks with Brown and his wife Sarah at the Queen’s official Edinburgh residence during the final day of their royal tour of Scotland.
