The prime minister is encouraging people across the country to join a national clap in honour of Captain Sir Tom Moore and healthcare workers this evening.
The 100-year-old, who inspired the nation in lockdown by raising millions of pounds for the NHS, died yesterday (Tuesday, February 2) after contracting pneumonia and Covid-19.
Speaking in the House of Commons today, Boris Johnson encouraged people to take to their doorsteps at 6pm this evening to pay tribute to Captain Tom.
