Atish Davda's big idea behind trading platform EquityZen came when he was trying to sell some equity in the tech startup he was working at to fund a wedding ring for his girlfriend of four years.
"After you paid the lawyers and the accountants and the brokers and the government, there wasn't much left to take home," Davda, CEO of EquityZen, said in an interview with Insider.
