The National Weather Service has determined damage caused in east Prattville and Millbrook is the result of an EF1 tornado packing winds of up to 100 miles per hour. The length and width of the track will be determined at a later time, said Gerald Satterwhite, a meteorologist with the NWS storm survey team that made the determination.
Meanwhile, crews were out Wednesday across River Region counties clearing roads and removing downed trees in the wake of the powerful storms that ripped across the area Tuesday night.
The whine of chainsaws mixed with the throaty growl of heavy equipment as the work went on. Widespread reports of trees down and trees on homes and buildings came in from Autauga, Elmore and Montgomery counties. No injuries have been reported.
