MANKATO, MN – Post 8 split its first two games at the Gopher Classic Saturday, beating LeSeur-Henderson (MN) 10-5 before losing to Hopkins (MN) 11-1.
Post 8 decided the game against LeSeur-Henderson early, scoring nine runs in the first two innings. Maguire Raske doubled, singled and drove in two runs. Andy Gordon had two singles and two RBI. Jayden Wiebe, Spencer Letellier and Aaron Booth had two singles each. Winning pitcher Bennett Dean allowed four runs and eight hits in five and two-thirds innings with three strikeouts and three walks.
Post 8 (21-16) never led against Hopkins, cutting the lead to 2-1 on a second inning RBI groundout by Andy Gordon. Hopkins then hit the Eights with a nine-run third inning.
