Port Huron Odyssey House and Port Huron Police Department are trying to break the cycle of substance use disorder by responding to people's homes after an overdose.
The two agencies launched the Mobile Overdose Response Team on April 20 in an effort to prevent overdoses and introduce people to recovery.
How does the program work?
The response team is provided information following the department's response to an overdose and attempt to make contact with the person on either a Tuesday or Thursday, said Duane Hunger, the community service officer.
The team, consists of either Hunger or Officer Matt Finnie, and one of two Odyssey House recovery coaches.
