Port Hawkesbury has added its voice to those calling for commercial air service in Sydney to be maintained.
At the town’s January regular council meeting Tuesday evening, councillors voted to send a letter to their federal counterparts asking for support of the J. A. Douglas McCurdy Sydney Airport.
Afterward, Mayor Brenda Chisholm-Beaton said it is critical they tell the federal government how important the airport is to the region.
“It’d be a huge missed opportunity for our island if we were only able to welcome people by road and by sea, and not by air.”
