Pope urges journalists to resist 'gossip and ideological readings' of the church

For the first time in his nearly 11-year papacy, Pope Francis on Monday held an audience with members of the Vatican press corps, thanking them for their work and insisting that the church cannot be reduced to political or ideological categories.
