Polk County closes COVID-19 vaccine portal, transitions to walk-up clinics

The health department will offer a first dose of the Moderna vaccine to individuals age 18 and older, with no appointment needed. The specific number of doses available for distribution Tuesday was not immediately available. 
"We’re prepared to serve a good number of individuals," Riley said. "We really want to get the message out there to vaccinate." 
As of Sunday night, the county's online vaccine portal stopped accepting new registrations for the county's waitlist. The website, register.polk.health, now redirects visitors to Florida Department of Health's main website where people can search for available doses by county or city.
