Political Scene: After eight years in City Hall, Diossa looks back and to the future
The New Year promises a welcome respite for term-limited Central Falls Mayor
James Diossa after a grueling 2020 leading the Rhode Island city hit harder than any other by COVID-19.
He's looking forward, once out of office, to the extra time with his 1-year-old daughter, state Sen. Sandra Cano and to reassess his future.
But the break is not likely to last long.
Diossa, a 36-year-old Democrat, is one of a small battalion of Rhode Island politicians, many of them also forced out of office by term limits, eyeing their next public office in 2022.
