Troopers made 18 thousand 400 DUI arrests, a decrease of 17 percent compared to the previous year. The coronavirus pandemic resulted in fewer drivers on the road which officials say contributed to the decrease in arrests.
The majority of the arrests were for alcohol impairment, but PSP Commissioner Robert Evanchik says close to 12 hundred arrests made last year were for other substances, thanks to troopers certified as Drug Recognition Experts.

Police say no injuries were reported following a rear-end crash in Henderson Township of Jefferson County that happened Wednesday afternoon near Paradise Road.
State Police say a truck, driven by 44-year-old Harvey L. Fyock of Punxsutawney was stopped waiting for another vehicle ahead to turn, when Fyock’s truck was struck from behind by a vehicle driven by 19-year-old Brady M. Muth of Punxsutawney who police say was driving at an unsafe speed and failed to stop.
