Officers from Braintree and Quincy police, as well as the Randolph Police K-9 unit, set up a perimeter and ultimately found Simonson.
The crash victim, a 36-year-old Randolph man, later told police that a car followed him all the way from Route 2 near Concord, through Randolph and into Braintree, eventually stopping at a stop light in Braintree near the Five Corners intersection on Granite Street. At that point, Simonson got out of his car and tried to get into the victim's car, police said.
The victim then got out of his car to confront Simonson, who got back in his car and used it to hit both the victim and the victim's car, police said. Shortly after, the victim called 911 to report the incident.
