Police investigate dead body found in Zeigler
ZEIGLER, Ill. (WSIL) -- The Zeigler Police Department is investigating after discovering a dead body Monday morning.
Police chief Ben Burkhamer says officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of Station Street around 9 a.m.
When police arrived, they discovered a 43-year old White man's body inside, Burkhamer said.
The man's name is not being released, pending notification to next of kin. Burkhamer says that could take time because the victim was a homeless man.
Burkhamer deferred questions on the cause of death to Franklin County coroner Marty Leffler, who was unavailable for comment.
