Police ID man who died after falling through ice in Eaton County

SUNFIELD TWP. – Police have released the name of the fisherman who fell through the ice on an Eaton County lake and died. 
Jason Betts, 41, of South Boardman, was fishing on Tamarack Lake in Sunfield Township Monday afternoon when he fell through the ice, according to the Eaton County Sheriff's Office. 
South Boardman is in northern Michigan, near Traverse City. 
Rescuers were called to the lake at about 1:40 p.m. Monday after another person coming out to fish reported seeing Betts go through the ice, according to the sheriff's office. They were unable to rescue Betts because of poor ice conditions.
