The police have cleared a section of the St. Dacre to Brown's Town main road in St. Ann which was blocked earlier on Monday by residents protesting the fatal shooting of a resident.

Members of the community used boulders and debris, some of which were set on fire, to prevent vehicular access along the thoroughfare.

The community has been on edge since 43-year-old Glester Whyte was killed by a policeman following a dispute over water on Sunday.

Ryan Gayle, Deputy Superintendent in charge of operations for the St. Ann Police, said his team cleared the debris to prevent any further incidents resulting from the roadblock.
